Born in Sligo, Ireland, I have lived in Dublin, Paris and now Hong Kong, where I work as a freelance journalist, for both print and broadcast. I am currently Hong Kong correspondent for France 24 and Radio France Internationale (English) and I have also reported here for TV5Monde, RTÉ, TG4 (Ireland), BBC Gaeilge, Radio New Zealand and Raidió Fáilte (Ireland). My print and online bylines include The Guardian, The Irish Times, The New Statesman, The New Republic, The Currency, The Millions, Berfrois, the South China Morning Post, Los Angeles Review of Books and When Saturday Comes. My fiction and essays have appeared in The Stinging Fly, gorse, The Dublin Review and Winter Papers. My specialised areas are news and culture, especially film, literature and football. I speak English, Irish, French and Portuguese and I also work as a translator, proofreader and editor. Offers of commissioned work, for audio-visual or written journalism, are always welcome.
