Born in Sligo, Ireland, I have lived in Dublin, Hong Kong and Paris, where I currently work as a broadcast journalist for France 24, specialising in international news. I was previously Hong Kong correspondent for France 24 and Radio France Internationale (English) and I also reported for TV5Monde, RTÉ, TG4 (Ireland), BBC Gaeilge, Radio New Zealand and Raidió Fáilte (Ireland). My print and online bylines include The Guardian, The Irish Times, The New Statesman, The New Republic, The Currency, The Millions, Berfrois, the South China Morning Post, Los Angeles Review of Books and When Saturday Comes. My fiction and essays have appeared in The Stinging Fly, gorse, The Dublin Review and Winter Papers. My specialised areas are news and culture, especially film, literature and football. I speak English, Irish, French and Portuguese. Offers of commissioned work, for audio-visual or written journalism, are always welcome.
